I’ve been a sheet metal finisher since 1982, working in the motor and aerospace industry.
Originally at Jaguar, lead loading on the production lines, I moved on to work at Park Sheet Metal and Project Aerospace, amongst many others.
Though I began on production lines, after Jaguar, my work became mainly on smaller volume, specialist work on one-off or prototype vehicles. Working in tandem with a welder, I’d accurately make the part needed, then work make then fit parts fit, to extreme accuracy. More often than not, I’d then do the same for the other side, or the next car - to the same accuracy.
In 2019 I was contacted by a restorer asking if I could reproduce a fuel filler neck for a Range Rover he was restoring. A part that just isn’t available, he asked if I could replicate the original. After seeing my finished part, I was then approached for other items that either aren’t made, or went out of stock decades ago.
Using my prototype panel background, I’ve since made everything; from small brackets to bodywork panels. I accurately replicate every crease, fold, curve and hole to make them exactly as the factory part. They don’t just fit, they look exactly like the production part they replace.
